The Swedish-Brazilian Innovation Weeks
The Sweden-Brazil Innovation Weeks provide a platform for the Strategic Partnership between Sweden and Brazil within the areas of science, technology and innovation (STI). The purpose is to promote Sweden as a long-term innovation partner for Brazil by fostering Swedish innovation environments, establishing collaboration with Brazilian counterparts and creating a meeting place for Swedish and Brazilian actors in the STI area. The innovation weeks also provide an overview of Swedish STI activities in Brazil. The innovation weeks are furthermore a platform for trade promotion and a possibility to explore, discover and analyze new business and cooperation opportunities between Sweden and Brazil. The Sweden-Brazil Innovation Weeks are organized by Team Sweden Brazil – Embassy of Sweden, Business Sweden, Swedcham, CISB – Swedish-Brazilian Research and Innovation Centre and the Swedish Honorary Consulates mainly in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
In 2009 Sweden and Brazil signed a Strategic Partnership and Bilateral Agreement for cooperation in the areas of innovation and industrial high-technology. This partnership took an important step further when Brazil in October 2014 decided to acquire the Swedish Fighter Jet system Gripen NG. The Gripen project will be a close, strategic industrial relationship between Sweden and Brazil for the next 25-30 years and will entail cooperation in a wide range of sectors not limited to defense. The Gripen cooperation will also bring exchanges in human capital in both directions.
