Sweden and Brazil share a deep commitment to sustainable development with a focus on energy efficiency. Both countries have hosted multilateral conferences that have brought together thousands of people working towards a sustainable future. Population growth and urban expansion lead to a series of management problems and increased costs, both related to the management and maintenance of services and infrastructure. Therefore, it is important to consider the objective while reducing costs and focusing on the intelligent and innovative use of technology related to topics such as energy, environment, and transportation. These unique challenges and also opportunities have resulted in the Smart City concept.
Energy efficiency
The Smart City concept focuses on innovation for sustainability, better mobility, and energy efficiency. A consortium of Swedish and Brazilian actors is promoting system innovation, combining technology, informatics, and smart grids to develop electro-mobility, as well as energy-efficient low-carbon transport services. All of this aimed at sustainable urban development and the opportunity to rethink the development of cities.
Solutions for urban issues, such as waste treatment projects; power distribution; large-scale events; security; mobility; resource management; and capacity development to make better decisions are some of the projects included in this concept.
